War Words

The funny, strange, heroic, and heartbreaking stories of those we sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, those we brought home, and those we left behind.

Based on the playwright’s interviews with veterans of the 20-year Long War and their families, War Words aims to create a bridge between those who serve and the great majority of us who thank them for their service without truly understanding what that means.

Reviews for War Words

The Front Row Center “This is a production everyone needs to see...Afterwards, it will require something of you. It will require you to examine yourself, to reach out to all those around you, and to touch all that you love. It is a must-see.”

Lighting and Sound America “Fascinating. …A thoroughly gripping piece of documentary theatre, ‘War Words’ immerses us in a parade of humanity that is, by turns, inspiring, dismaying, and terribly sad... a crash course in the lives of an America we often forget...it is essential to our understanding of where this country is today.

TheatreMania ““The stories and insights revealed in this docudrama are vital and ought to be heard far and wide...Their perspectives need to be heard now more than ever, especially as the number of veterans in the decision-making class diminishes, and social media memes replace real experience.”

Broadway Radio You will be moved, entertained, and it will bring tears to your eyes.”

WBAI Radio “An important and dramatically effective play. When you leave the theater, you know you’ve had an experience that moves you intellectually and emotionally."
